Yoga

a Holistic Science for Better Living

Lotus Flower

In today’s fast-paced world, technological advancements have reduced the need for physical activities and have unfortunately also added to stress by making us available round the clock for work-related commitments. This has led to a rise in health problems such as insomnia, gastric problems, diabetes, hypertension and back pain adding to mental stress and unhappiness. Yoga can help alleviate such problems. Practical applications of yogic ideals, in day-to -day life, contributes to a better living that is free of physical illness and emotional imbalance.

Going beyond fitness

Contrary to common belief, Yoga is not just about asanas and fitness. It is an ancient science that works at different levels – the physical, mental and emotional-to positively impact every sphere of life. When adopted as a lifestyle, Yoga helps you tap into your true potential, improving you as an individual and a productive member of society. Yoga therapy can be defined as the application of Yogic principles to achieve a particular spiritual, psychological and physiological goal. This is a self healing process, where the participant, with the help of the Yoga therapist, implements a personalized and evolving Yoga practice, that helps shape a complete transformation.

The theory of Panchakosha

Our brand is based on the theory of Panchakosha. The theory of Panchakosha, explained in Taitteriya Upanishad, is made up of two words- Pancha’ which means ‘Five” and “Kosha, which means ‘Layers’

According to this theory our existence is made up of five layers :

ANNAMAYA KOSHA

Physical Layer (Body)

MANOMAYA KOSHA

Mind Layer (Emotions)

ANANDAMAYA KOSHA

Bliss Layer (True Happiness)

PRANAMAYA KOSHA

Vital Layer (Breath)

VIJNYANAMAYA KoSHA

Intellectual Layer (Intelligence)

Yogic concept of disease

When there is emotional imbalance such as stress, anxiety, depression etc., it creates a severe disturbance in the manomaya kosha, which leads to many psychosomatic diseases. In Yoga Vasishtha, this is defined as ‘Aadhi. This disturbance in turn affects the Pranayama kosha and disrupts the vital energy. Disturbance in the vital energy directly effects the physical health of the individual. In Yoga Vasishtha, this is defined as “Vyadhi’. The root cause behind every disease is Aadhi” and ‘Vyadhi”
